Job Description

The Electrical Design Engineer will design and provide guidance to maintain all aspects of electrical systems in mission critical data centers. The ideal candidate has familiarity with Building Information Modeling using Revit, has strong communication skills, and an interest in liaising with internal and external design, client and construction team members. Candidate will have previous experience as a lead project electrical engineer capable of directing the project team.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, develops, and designs a variety of equipment, components, products and systems to manage efficient electrical distribution for mission critical data centers.
  • Responsible for performing all aspects of engineering and design for assignments.
  • Responsible for leading the drawings review effort with consultants and contractors.
  • Provides document control and submittal review.
  • Works with Design engineering team and Data Center Operations team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  • Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
  • Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies.
  • Deliver documentation offering a critical analysis and suggestions for correcting errors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or advanced degree and experience required.
  • 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Has basic understanding of electrical systems and design concepts.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and civil engineering practices.
  • Ability to interact well with others as well as develop and contribute to high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design software like Revit, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to travel 50% of the time.

Work Environment

This job operates in a data center and office environment. This role routinely uses standard data center equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, digital multimeters, etc.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Working in hot and cold environments. Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
