Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets

The Job
The Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets is accountable for day-to-day oversight of the company’s construction and project accounting, as well as supporting both internal and external audit requests. This includes ownership of the related internal controls. The position is also responsible for evaluating current processes as well as developing and implementing improvements to take advantage of the Netsuite system and fixed asset accounting best practices.
The Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets reports to the Senior Manager of Fixed Assets Accounting. The position will work closely with other functional areas in the Controllership and Finance organization and will support and partner with Construction and Data Center Operations organizations.
Responsibilities
- Own the construction in progress (CIP) accounting, SaaS project accounting and internal cost capitalization processes for placing assets into service.
- Ensure all CIP and PPE accounting activities are completed timely and accurately on a monthly basis. Review contracts, propose and document accounting assessment in compliance with GAAP.
- Partner with FP&A and other business partners as necessary, to continuously identify new internal cost capitalization opportunities and operationalize the capitalization, while also keeping processes scalable.
- Represent Capex accounting in projects/reviews.
- Understand relevant company accounting policies and procedures and has the ability to interpret these to make quick decisions and provide guidance.
- Review sales and use tax compliance of invoices and contracts and prepare revisions and accruals when needed. Understand the “Big Picture” and design processes that maintain compliance when considering all stakeholders of information (External Audit, Tax, Insurance, Business partners, etc)
- Track equipment assets at their serialized level and reconcile data against operational ERP systems to ensure accuracy for transfers and disposals.
- Actively engage in developing and maintaining compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. Understand risk control matrixes, internal controls, and experience with process documentation.
- Makes recommendations to drive process improvement initiatives and execute by building scalable accounting processes to support growth.
- Team player who identifies problems, helps research and drive solutions, and implement best practices for the team.
- Manage ad-hoc projects and requests for data and analysis from business partners and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting is required
- CPA with Public Accounting Experience
- 2-3 years of related experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong use of ERP / Accounting systems. Knowledge of Netsuite and Net Asset preferred
- Experience with Procore or other construction ERP system a plus
- Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems
- Excellent reconciliation skills and ability to work with large data sets
- Knowledge or experience in the Construction or Data Center industry preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Excels at performing well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines

This is a full-time, Monday – Friday position. You may be expected to work some weekends and after hours as work requires.
