The Job
The Security Project Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and management of physical security programs with a strong emphasis on construction projects. This role ensures that security measures are integrated into all construction and infrastructure development phases for corporate, data centers, and high-security facilities. The candidate must have deep knowledge of construction and experience coordinating security measures with contractors, architects, and other project managers.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee physical security programs for construction projects.
- Ensure security compliance with industry regulations, building codes, and company policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses on new and existing construction projects.
- Collaborate with security consultants, architects, engineers, and general contractors to incorporate security design standards.
- Integrate security features, such as perimeter security, access control, surveillance, and alarm systems, into construction planning.
- Monitor construction projects for security compliance and ensure best practices in site security.
- Manage vendor selection and contracts for security infrastructure installations (e.g., CCTV, biometric access control, intrusion detection systems).
- Oversee the implementation of temporary and permanent security measures at construction sites.
- Ensure the protection of critical infrastructure assets during all phases of construction.
- Develop emergency response plans for construction sites, including fire safety, evacuation, and active threat response.
- Conduct security drills and training for construction teams and security personnel.
- Investigate security incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal security regulations related to construction security.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to meet industry-specific security standards such as NIST, DHS, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
- Provide recommendations on security infrastructure improvements and budget planning.
- Present security reports and project updates to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and enforce security policies for contractor and visitor access to construction sites.
- Implement access control solutions and credentialing for contractors, subcontractors, and employees.
- Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team, with co-workers/ teammates, and leaders across the organization.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in security management, construction management, engineering, or a related field is required.
- 3 years of experience in physical security, construction security management, or facilities security.
- Must have strong knowledge of construction processes, security technology, and infrastructure protection.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or security design software is a plus.
- Knowledge of electronic security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms, perimeter detection systems).
- Familiarity with SOC 2 compliance, ISO 27001, and other security compliance frameworks.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive security mindset.
- One of the following certifications is strongly preferred:
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) – ASIS International
- Physical Security Professional (PSP) – ASIS International
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) – CMAA
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification

Work Environment
This job is operated in a professional office, warehouse, and data center environments. It routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, smartphones, ladders, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, position. General hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. some nights and weekends may be required.
