Sr. Mining Operations Center Specialist (Nights)

The Job
The Sr. Mining Operations Center Specialist is responsible for monitoring all mining dashboards, weather, physical security, and surveillance while documenting and communicating all impactful events to the client as well as Core Scientific leadership. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating between engineering, energy suppliers, and site personnel during special projects such as deployments, decommissions, power maintenance, and other maintenance activities. They will also guide new personnel in the operations center with daily operations.
Responsibilities:
- The Sr. Mining Ops Center Specialist must have the ability to analyze data and organize it accordingly and be an excellent communicator with the ability to speak and write clearly and accurately to senior level management
- Deep understanding of BTC mining operations and standards
- At least 3 years of verifiable Operations Center experience or related experience
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent Computer Skills with experience in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Shift work; flexibility in work hours is required
- Evaluates and selects among alternative courses of action quickly and effectively
- De-escalates conflict and stressful situations
- Drafts concise, accurate situational reports, prepare and present briefing materials
- Effective handling of problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- The Sr. Mining Ops Center Specialist works in an Operations Center requiring 24/7 staffing
- Receive information from the field and make appropriate notifications as required by Standard Operating Procedures
- The Sr. Mining Ops Center Specialist must adapt and function during time-urgent situations
- The Sr. Mining Ops Center Specialist will support security operations in crisis response and incident management
- Applicants should understand that this is a mentally demanding position which may require long hours; night, weekend, and holiday work; and managing stressful situations and conflict
- Work independently with little direct supervision
- Generate nightly diagnostic reports to be shared with onsite mining technicians
- Check price points regularly for hashprice, energy, and BTC
- Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the long hours of the night
- Effectively listen to, understand, clarify, and resolve the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and leadership
- Maintains an open, positive, professional working relationship with site personnel and leadership
- Observe and inspect site locations via live video feed cameras
- Hourly check-ins with site security
- Monitor patrols made by guards in the field
- Manages physical access control system, including identity management, facilities access privileges, and access needs for special events
- Utilizes video monitoring system, including forensic review of video recording to support investigations
- Ensures that property patrols are regularly conducted, maintaining security visibility and logging safety and security issues
- Receive, prioritize, and communicate emergency messages, making appropriate notifications such as weather, active shooter, or other emergency scenarios
- Provide support and emergency information to deployed personnel
- Work as a member of a team to continuously improve operational effectiveness, improving SOPs, and delivering support to the customer
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in related field of study OR 2 years of relevant, Data Center support experience required.
- Genetec software experience or Genetec certification preferred.
- Expertise in Excel, Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point, etc.
- Strong IT troubleshooting skills – network, platform, storage, preferred.
- Willing to learn new technologies and applications, required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, required.
- Experience with applications such as Confluence, Jira, preferred
- Experience with Slack, Zabbix, Databricks, Minder, preferred.
- Basic knowledge of blockchain principles, preferred.
- Understanding of ITIL service delivery concepts, preferred.
- Genetec software experience or Genetec certification preferred.
Location
Austin, TX. Occasional travel between data centers.
Type of Travel
You may travel to each site once for hands-on understanding of the overall roles and responsibilities in our daily operations.

Able to meet physical requirements of the job, such as working on ladders, racking heavy servers (up to 50 lbs.),
Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position.
