As a Field Application Engineer at Xpand, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our advanced robotic retail systems. You’ll work hands-on with hardware and software, including mechanical components, Linux-based systems, and proprietary platforms. Your role involves supporting customers on-site and remotely, ensuring smooth operation and quick resolution of technical issues.
You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and provide training to operators in the field. This position requires strong technical instincts, independence, and a willingness to travel internationally.
What the job will include
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide ongoing technical support to customers.
- Identify faults and bugs by reviewing logs, gathering relevant data, and providing detailed reports.
- Perform physical operations that require on-site presence, such as replacing malfunctioning hardware.
- Work with multiple systems as part of operating and troubleshooting, including databases, BI tools, Linux, proprietary systems, CRM, and CMMS.
- Conduct system maintenance and testing.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technological advancements in the robotics industry.
- Manage ongoing client technical relationships
- collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve customer issues and improve the customer experience.
- Provide hands-on training to customers’ operators.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience, as well as experience in robotics or a related field. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with being detail-oriented and having a strong technical instinct.
Must have
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant degree.
- At least two years of experience working with multidisciplinary, complex robotic systems — including software, mechanical, electrical, and industrial design aspects.
- Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems logically and systematically.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation, including handling customer inquiries and complaints professionally and empathetically.
- Ability to adapt to changing technologies and processes, and to learn new skills as needed.
- Self-learning and independence
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand software systems and configurations by reading logs and tracing the flow of information through software components.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems and the ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance tasks as required.
- Travel: Willingness to work overseas for extended periods.
